The Ritual of Battle: Krishna in the Mahabharata by Alf Hiltebeitel

Draws on the theories of Indo-European mythology put forth by Dumezil and Wikander to place the ancient Indian epic, and Krishna's central role in it, within literary and religious as well as mythological traditions. Challenges theories of interpolations that deny the work's integrity.
